I think that there is still a long way to go before technology is able to copy the REAL world. We can say that virtuality is a reality. It is, we can experience it. But it only exists within the REAL world. We can only appreciate virtuality by means of comparing it to the PHYSICAL world. At present, the virtual is not a reality by it self. This time is free internet: access to the net whenever we want, wherever we are, doesn’t it sound cool? But we forgot an issue: technology gives us comfort in exchange of depriving us from something. Free internet, but less privacy. What it is our society going to do with this? The same that we did with the previous technological advances: KEEP GOING. Technology is addictive, we taste it and we are not able to rejected it. It always overwhelms us. We cannot manipulate it, technology manipulates us.

Furthermore, lack of privacy it is not a new concept for us. Since many years ago, our personal information is been loaded in a computer database, thus we have already lost our privacy. Should we be worried about that? are we getting to an extreme situation? Probably, but as I was pointing out before, it is progress who takes us to this point.

MY ANSWERS II

Nadia Ribas__Do you think that this energy that envolves EVERYTHING (nature, world, universe, genetic) (which one some people call it God) could be a rhizome!?

God? Why do we have to talk about God that means different things in each religion? Lets talk about energy, that it is interpreted in the same way in all cultures. What I learned from my physic classes in school is that energy never dies, it is always transforming. So, does this definition fit with the logic of a rhizome?
“A rhizome may be broken, shattered at a given spot, but it will start up again on one of its old lines, or on new lines.” Text from Deleuze & Guattari in A Thousand Plateaus: Capitalism and Schizophrenia [University of Minnesota Press, 1987]

Juan Cueto__A lot of topics are included in the word Architecture: function, shape, technique, mechanical, structure, culture, art, philosophy, buildings, human scale, views, light, spaces... Could be any of theses topics a rhizome?

I think that culture is the topic that fits better with the definition of a rhizome. Culture has a multiple grow, in diferent spots, time and directions. All cultures are related and the influence of one over another can make grow a new one. Culture never goes back, and when it is almost desappearing, another is rising elsewhere.

SKETCH

MY ANSWERS

Virgil Abloh__ Experientially, navigating a interacctive website and walking thru new building are the same, agree or disagree?

When we observe a building, our perceptive system follows an scheme different from the one we follow navigating in the internet. While doing the latter, we jump from a site to another in a relatively espontaneos way. Furthermore, the information that we find is not ordered in any specific way. However when we observe a building we first have a glance at it, noticing its principle outlines. When we have just understood the general characteristics, we peer up the details. Even though sometimes we need to focus on the details to understand the whole, we always have need of the general vision to continue looking at other details. Our perception follows a hierarchic scheme, choosing the information according to its importance, so that we can understand the building during the process.

Inés Blasco__I agree that there´s not a homogeneus linguistic community; it doesn´t exist one unique utilization of a lenguage, as it doesn´t exist an objetive use of it. although, i strongly believe that there is a unique way in which people should make a correct use of the lenguage. Do you think that there is no ideal speaker-listener?

Every culture has its differents ways of understanding the surrounding world. That’s why each lenguage has its own expressions that cannot be translated into the other languages. We have to do our best to understand each different way of thinking and try to communicate according to it. We cannot speak in the same way to a chinese than to a member of an african tribe. It is not the same talking to a child, than to an adult. It is not the same talking to a wealthy man than to a homeless. There is not one ideal way of comunicating, there are many ideal ways that fit into each circumstance.

MY QUESTION

Which would be the meme of architecture?

INTERNET MAPING How and where we work, when and where we have fun, how wealthy we are... these questions are reflected on the structure of our cities.

Technology is the responsible of our cities’ transformation. Every new technological invention has modified the concept of distance. For example, the invention of car, ship and airplane gave the possibility of stablishing relationship between people from other territories. Cities were’nt alone anymore. Their growth was affecting not only their surrounding landscape, but other cities and territories as well.

The recent telecommunication advancements have also increased our capability of communicating with people in other territories. Nowadays, it is possible to stablish relationship with people from abroad in real time. That’s the big difference between the past and present technological inventions. While in the past century motion was our way of life, in this starting century communication will be possible without moving. In the next decades, the urban and territorial structure will grow influenced by the virtual networks.
